How to start a Mini Art Journal

Starting an art journal

There can be many ways to be creative and reflect on our thoughts and feelings, creating an art journal is one of them. I have been using drawing and writing at times to do both but never on a consistent basis. What i love about art journaling is that allows me to do anything i feel like. From drawing, stitching, painting, writing  to create pages that help me transport to my own magical worlds. Using colour, texture and words one can make what feels right for them.

slow down and be creative

Art journaling is so flexible and for that reason i wanted to start a mini version, to make it even easier for anyone that wants to start but feels intimidated. When you create an art journal you do it solely for yourself and of course no one needs to see it – unless you want to. Its your little treasure in a book, i love to just go back and look at the pretty pages and read encouraging words.

As i mention in my Video below, you can use whatever art supplies you have at home. However if you wish to get what i am using for drawing and writing i list it here. You can then gather paper that you love to make your own collage. You will be surprised at what you can use. When it comes to art journaling, cutting out small pieces and using them to make your own art is like a playground!

Materials:
Faber Castel Polychromos
Staedtler Fineliers
Moleskine Cahier Journal

If you wish to  make your own watercolor washes you can use:
