Working with felt when embroidering can be tricky as it is not possible to use tracing methods with carbon paper. Here i am sharing with you a method i discovered that works really well and that you can use on any colour of felt or wool material.
You will need your design in outline and some tracing paper. Trace over with a pen if you don't want the design to rub off. Then take the tracing paper over your felt and pin over it.
There is two possibilities here depending on how detailed is your design:
Stitch straight onto the tissue paper all the outlines then rip off the paper gently - make sure your don't pull your stitches.
Make little holes with a pin on the tissue paper design then mark the dots with a marker pen or fabric pen (depending if you are worried of the marks showing), this way you don't have to worry about ripping the paper off, however it will take longer if you have an intricate design.
Below i show how i have used this technique on my rose design to make a felt patch.
When i was finished with the outline, i then removed the tissue paper and continued stitching to fill in the desired areas.
And here is the finished Design on my Hoop!
